A 6-year-old boy is rescued after almost 48 hours in the Indonesian earthquake

– The death toll from the 5.6-magnitude earthquake that struck Indonesia‘s West Java province has risen to 310, with 24 others still missing, an official said on Friday.


In Cianjur, one of the hardest-hit areas, a 6-year-old boy named Azka was rescued by an evacuation team from the ruins of his home after being trapped for almost 48 hours.

According to the country’s National Agency for Disaster Mitigation and Management, risk assessments of the quake’s impacts are underway and aid would be continuously distributed to survivors at evacuation centers throughout the Cianjur district.

On Thursday, the agency reported that the quake destroyed 56,311 houses and displaced 62,545 residents in Cianjur district.
