Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, don dey take serious steps to reduce youth unemployment for the state. On Monday, Governor Eno launch the Arise Youth Employment Portal at Ibom Hotel And Golf Resort, Uyo.
According to Governor Eno, the portal go be one-stop site for employment matters, and e dey urge both civil service and private sector to use the portal well-well. E say the portal go help harvest employment opportunities for the youths, and it go segment jobs according to skill set.
Eno explain say one of the major themes e campaign on na to provide gainful employment opportunities for the teeming youths, which align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal on poverty reduction. E also mention say the State Inter-Labour Committee go ensure that all companies operating in the state engage indigenous human resources and exhibit transparent employment practices.
The Governor thank the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT, Dr Frank Ekpenyong and his team for their hard work in making the employment portal a reality. The Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, describe the portal as a watershed in the State recruitment process, saying qualified indigenes of the state will get a chance to be recruited into the civil service using advanced technology.
The private sector also commend the Governor for the launch of the employment portal. The CEO of Hensek Integrated Services, Engr. Uwem Okoko, describe it as a lofty innovation, especially during the construction season when more hands would be needed to deliver jobs.
