Nigerian airline, Air Peace, don divert one of their flights from Lagos to London-Gatwick to Manchester because of bad weather. The flight, which was supposed to land at London-Gatwick, experience weather-related delay and diversion.
According to statement from Air Peace, the flight P47578 leave Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 11:59 pm on October 17, but some minutes into the flight, the weather at London-Gatwick deteriorate below the required minimum, forcing the pilots to divert to Manchester Airport.
The airline explain say the decision to divert the flight was made in accordance with standard safety protocols and after careful assessment of expected improvements in visibility. They also say that the flight’s departure from Lagos was postponed until 2:00 am due to forecasted poor weather conditions at the destination airport.
Air Peace assure the public that the flight has since departed Manchester and safely arrived at Gatwick Airport. The airline apologize for the inconvenience this incident may have caused their passengers and thank them for their patience and continued trust in Air Peace.
