Tragedy strike Thursday morning for Benin City, Edo State capital, as CNG-powered vehicle explode at NIPCO filling station located at Aduwawa along Benin-Auchi Expressway.
The explosion happen when the vehicle dey get service, and it suddenly blow up, causing panic among people around the area. In a viral video wey dey circulate on social media, the vehicle scatter everywhere, and people run for their lives as the loud sound from the explosion create fear.
At least three persons sustain various degrees of injuries from the explosion. One motorist suffer eye injury, one woman stomach tear open, and another person foot amputate. Dem rush dem to private hospital for medical attention.
This incident come at a time when safety concerns dey raised about the conversion of petrol-powered vehicles to CNG, which the Federal Government advocate as a way to reduce transportation cost after fuel subsidy removal.
