Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, don unveil the sale of subsidised rice for citizens of the state on Thursday. The event happen at the Arcade Ground of the governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The governor say that the subsidised rice, which dey sell for N40,000 per 50kg bag, na part of Federal Government initiative to reduce food inflation. Abiodun also announce that his administration go soon begin sell other subsidised food items like garri and beans across the 20 local governments of the state.
Abiodun explain say the distribution go cover different groups including civil servants, private sector workers, artisans, trade unions, NGOs, student bodies, market women, and traditional and religious organisations. He assure the people that the office of the Head of Service and the Ministry of Agriculture, along with the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), don develop a well-structured template to ensure fair and wide distribution of the commodity.
The governor commend President Bola Tinubu for the initiative, saying it show his commitment to tackle food inflation. He also note that the sale and distribution of the subsidised rice go be transparent and fair, with no cash payments allowed; instead, payment go be made through Point of Sales (PoS) machines, and beneficiaries go undergo physical verification at the point of sale.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, who was represented by Mrs. Ayo Ajayi, praise the state for having the best template for the sale of subsidised rice, saying the Federal Government go use this template in other states.
