The Platform 2, di sequel to di 2019 hit film, The Platform, just drop on Netflix and it dey leave many viewers confused and shaken. Unlike di first film, The Platform 2 features a brand-new cast of prisoners who must fight to survive in di vertical self-management center, known as di pit.
Di story takes place before di events of di first film, making it a prequel. It follows Perempuan, a renowned artist who joins di pit due to her feelings of guilt over a tragic event involving a child. She and her floor mate, Zamiatin, navigate di harsh conditions and try to implement a law to ensure everyone gets a fair share of food.
Di ending of di film is particularly gruesome, with a war between di loyalists and di barbarians leaving few survivors. Perempuan finds redemption by sacrificing herself to protect a child, preventing her from inhaling di gas used by di pit’s cleaners. Di mid-credits scene shows many prisoners descending to di pit’s bottom with children, suggesting that di Authority has built multiple similar vertical prisons globally.
Director Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia confirmed in an interview that di sequel expands di universe of The Platform, highlighting di sinister and complex machinations of di vertical self-management system. Di film also features themes of redemption and hopelessness, as characters like Perempuan and Goreng accept their sins and sacrifice themselves to save di children.
