DJ Chicken face court for threat to kill Seyi Tinubu

Na social media personality, Abiodun Ademola, wey dem know as DJ Chicken, don appear before Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Friday for alleged threat to kill Seyi Tinubu.

The 37-year-old man wey dey stay for Tafodi Estate, Royal Park, Lekki, Lagos, face three-count charge wey include threat to life, offensive online publication, and conduct likely to breach peace.

According to the charge, DJ Chicken allegedly post video on im Facebook and Instagram accounts, @djchicken, threatening to kill Seyi Tinubu. The prosecution say the defendant intend the message to reach Seyi Tinubu and create fear through the publication wey circulate on social media.

Police also allege say DJ Chicken post a grossly offensive and menacing video on Instagram wey go cause alarm, contrary to the Cybercrimes Act of 2015.

The prosecution further allege say the defendant threaten to kill Seyi Tinubu if President Bola Tinubu contest or win the 2027 presidential election.

According to prosecutors, the defendant conduct dey capable of causing breach of public peace and disturbing public order.

The prosecution say the alleged offences contravene Sections 232 and 168(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, and also violate Section 24 of the Cybercrimes Act, 2015.

Magistrate F. Onamusi grant the defendant bail in the sum of ₦1 million with two sureties in like amount. Onamusi rule say one surety must be blood relation wey carry defendant surname, while the second must be recognised community leader or clergyman.

The court also direct both sureties to provide evidence of three years tax payments and LASTRA verification before perfecting bail conditions.

Magistrate adjourn the matter until August 3, 2026.

DJ Chicken plead not guilty to all three charges.

Before the court session, DJ chicken don post another video wey withdraw the remarks, describing them as joke wey go attract public attention. He state say he no get intention to harm Seyi Tinubu, say the comments na part of content creation.

Despite the retraction, the state proceed with criminal charges against him.

The first count allege say the defendant post video containing threat to kill Seyi Tinubu through im social media accounts, offence punishable under Section 232 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The second count accuse am of transmitting grossly offensive and menacing message through computer network, contrary to Section 24 of Cybercrime Act, 2015.

The third count allege say im conduct dey likely cause breach of peace and intend to intimidate or embarrass Seyi Tinubu, contrary to Section 168(d) of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate Onamusi admit am to bail of N1 million with two sureties in like sum. The court rule say one surety must be government employee, while second must be recognised community leader with landed property for Lagos State.

Both sureties also require to provide evidence of three years tax clearance, LASRRA identification, NIN, and recent utility bills.

One of the sureties must be blood relation of the defendant.

Pending fulfilment of bail conditions, magistrate order say DJ Chicken be remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
