ADC tok say FG push 17 million Nigerians enter acute hunger

Di African Democratic Congress (ADC) don accuse President Bola Tinubu im government say dem make over 17 million Nigerians face acute hunger and death. Di party describe di situation as self-creation of humanitarian disaster.

ADC also tok say di figures, wey include infants and young children, na result of incompetence, misplaced priorities, and failed policies. Di party make di statement follow United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) report wey show say more dan 17 million Nigerians across nine conflict-affected Northern states dey face acute hunger.

For statement wey im National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi sign, di party condemn di Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) Federal Government for wetin dem call im “cruel indifference” to di growing humanitarian crisis. According to ADC, di crisis come from government failure to contain banditry and terrorism wey don displace farming communities, plus harsh economic policies wey don push food beyond reach of millions of Nigerians.

ADC say dem receive, with profound concern, di latest assessment by United Nations WFP, wey confirm say Nigeria now dey face one of im worst food security emergencies for almost a decade. Di statement tok: “According to WFP, more than 17 million Nigerians across nine conflict-affected northern states now dey face crisis, emergency or catastrophic levels of food insecurity. Dis represent increase of almost two million people from previous projections. Dem no be opposition figures. Dem no be campaign slogans. Dem be findings of world leading humanitarian agency on hunger. WFP also identify di principal causes of dis unfolding tragedy: expanding insecurity, attacks on farming communities, mass displacement, restricted humanitarian access and declining support for vulnerable populations. For other words, di hunger wey dey confront millions of Nigerians today no be natural disaster. E be APC-inspired government-created humanitarian disaster.”

Abdullahi note say di humanitarian crisis na predictable outcome of government wey don fail to secure Nigerian lives, fail to protect Nigerian farmers and fail to address di cost-of-living crisis wey dem create.
