Paul Scholes yarn say Thomas Tuchel must drop Declan Rice for DR Congo match

Former Manchester United star Paul Scholes don advise England boss Thomas Tuchel to drop Arsenal midfield star Declan Rice for the upcoming World Cup knockout clash against DR Congo. According to Scholes, England no need two sitting midfielders for that game, and e go better to play more attackers.

Scholes talk on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast say: “England don’t need to play two sitting midfielders in the next game. No disrespect to Congo but in those type of games you play as many attackers as possible. I think it has to be a straight shootout between Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson, and I think I would just go with Anderson.”

E add say Anderson go pass di ball forward more than Rice. “Think about Rice with Arsenal… look, he’s a great player and a great leader, I get all that, and you’d rather him in your team than not most of the time. But Arsenal didn’t play great football last season either, did they? Rice couldn’t get Odegaard in the game, so maybe that’s transferred a bit to England. I don’t think that happens with Anderson.”

England don finish as group winners, wey give dem privilege to face one of di eight best third-placed teams. But DR Congo fit give England serious challenge, especially as Tuchel dey consider rotating im side. Di German coach get big injury concerns for defence, with Reece James and Jarell Quansah missing di knockout rounds.

Rice bin get rest for di 2-0 win over Panama after e take heavy blow to calf for di goalless draw with Ghana. E dey free to start di clash, but Tuchel fit listen to Scholes as e dey look to breathe more life into im side. England performances for di World Cup so far don show mixed bag, and some fans dey doubt if dem fit reach final.
