Di University of Ibadan Students’ Union Government don confirm di abduction of one 300-level female Law student from di institution. Di student, wey dem identify as Tomisin, bin dey return from a religious conference for Imo State when di incident happen.
According to di SUG President, Temidayo Adeboye, Tomisin bin dey travel back to Ibadan after attending di Scripture Union National Conference at di Camp of Faith, Okigwe, Imo State. She bin dey with seven other persons, including di National General Director of di Scripture Union Student Fellowship, Uwem Cosmos, when communication with di convoy cut off.
Adeboye clarify say only one University of Ibadan student dey involved for di matter. Dis one na to correct false reports wey dey circulate for social media wey claim say eight UI students dey missing. Tomisin na 300-level student of Faculty of Law, and she dey serve as National Secretary of Scripture Union Student Fellowship, Nigeria, and Vice President of di fellowship’s UI chapter.
Di SUG President say di union don start necessary engagements to find out di true facts of di situation. Dem don establish contact with relevant religious organisations and security agencies to make sure say dem fit intervene well. Adeboye add say di SUG dey work closely with stakeholders to make sure say dem take quick action to secure di safe return of di abducted student.
He talk say di misinformation about di number of affected students don create unnecessary panic for di university community. He make am clear say Tomisin na di only UI student wey no dey accounted for for di incident. Adeboye also note say concern about di student’s whereabouts increase after she no fit write her scheduled faculty examinations earlier for di week.
He also disclose say another University of Ibadan student from Department of Music, wey attend di same conference, don return safely to campus. Meanwhile, di University’s Director of Public Relations, Mrs. Joke Akinpelu, confirm say dem dey aware of di incident. She note say di institution no bin officially informed of di student’s travel arrangements before she go.
Mrs. Akinpelu explain say di incident reportedly happen for Saturday, and she reiterate say only one UI student dey affected, contrary to earlier claims for social media. As efforts dey intensify to secure di release of di abducted persons, students, friends, and members of di Scripture Union Student Fellowship dey call for prayers and quick intervention by security agencies.
