Chelsea don officially announce say dem don sell striker Jimmy-Jay Morgan to West Bromwich Albion for permanent deal. The transfer fee reportedly around £4 million, and Chelsea still get sell-on clause for the player.
Morgan, wey be 20 years old, originally come from Southampton to Chelsea for £3m in February 2023 as a teenager. He never play for Chelsea senior team, but he score 21 goals for 46 appearances for the Under-21s.
For the second half of 2024/25 season, Morgan go on loan to League Two side Gillingham, where he score two goals for 16 matches. Then for the next season, he join Peterborough United on loan and score 14 goals for 39 outings in all competitions, as Peterborough finish 18th for League One.
Now Morgan go step up to Championship for the first time with West Brom. The Baggies just finish four points above relegation zone last season, but dem get new permanent manager James Morrison, wey guide dem to unbeaten run of 10 games.
Morgan become the first signing for West Brom for summer transfer window. Chelsea also don let other academy players go, like Brodi Hughes, Richard Olise, Sam Rak-Sakyi, and Jimi Tauriainen, after dem contract expire on June 30.
