All di ceremonial openings of di World Cup don finish after festive parties for Toronto and Los Angeles on Friday. All three hosts don play dia opening match and di tournament begin for earnest today with three matches for Groups B and C.
Di games for Friday were pretty exciting. See below for recap of yesterday action and how to watch di three games today.
Goals: J. Lukic (21), C. Larin (78). Di atmosphere was exciting. Di match was okay, e be compelling too for a way wey say dis na bad football but still fun. Bosnia open scoring with a meatwall set piece headed goal off of a long throw, and Canada, backed by a raucous crowd, get plenty minor chances but no fit find di net until di second half when Cyle Larin poke one home from top of di box. Promise David look super fun. Jonathan David look di opposite. None of dese teams look like dem likely to make plenty noise, but di atmosphere for Toronto sure be neat.
Goals: Bobadilla (OG) (7), Balogun (31, 45+5), Mauricio (72), Reyna (90+7). HOLY CRAP! If you be Tottenham fan wey start follow di team after di Mauricio Pochettino era, dat one be wetin we used to look like. E ruled, and so dis game. USA come out like gangbusters against Paraguay team wey only concede 10 goals for World Cup Qualifying. Di tone set with a deflected early own goal by Paraguay Bobadilla, and Folarin Balogun add first half goals for an utterly dominant performance. Dey be runs from all angles, through balls galore, and maybe one of di best performances from Christian Pulisic wey I ever see. Dat one fit be di best half wey I see from a USA team for a World Cup since 2002 against Portugal. Mauricio (no be Poch, di Paraguay player) ruin di shutout with a late second half goal, but USA put di icing on di cake with a 90+7 banger from Gio Reyna. Dat one be super impressive match and confidence-building win by USA.
