Frisco teenager found guilty for stabbing student at track meet

According to witnesses, di argument start when Austin Metcalf, a Memorial High School junior, tell Karmelo, a Centennial High School student, to move from underneath Memorial’s pop-up tent wey dem use during downpour. When Karmelo refuse, im open im bag, reach inside, and tell Austin, “Touch me and see what happens.” Na so Austin push am, and Karmelo pull black knife from bag, stab am for chest, and run.

Prosecutor Bill Wirske tell jury during opening remarks say di killing na “senseless murder” and no be case of self-defense. But Karmelo tell police say im dey protect imself for di confrontation.

Austin Metcalf’s father, Jeff Metcalf, say im son no know Karmelo. Austin get twin brother, Hunter, wey dey nearby when di stabbing happen. Hunter see im brother get stab and try to stop di bleeding. Despite lifesaving measures by police and fire personnel, including CPR and blood administration, Austin die for im twin arms.

Karmelo admit to di stabbing and claim self-defense. When officer refer to am as “alleged suspect,” Karmelo reportedly respond, “I’m not alleged, I did it,” and ask if di stabbing fit be considered self-defense and if Austin dey okay.

Di incident happen for di 11-5A championship district track meet, wey get more than 100 students from eight schools. Di district say after di stabbing, dem immediately secure di stadium, suspend di meet, and return all students to dem home campuses with expediency.
