Eid al-Adha: Clerics call for peace, unity across Nigeria

As Muslims across Nigeria and the world dey celebrate Eid al-Adha, two prominent clerics don call for peace and unity for di nation.

Di Amir and Lead Imam of di Lagos State House of Assembly Muslim Community, Abdushshakur Adeleke Osoala, urge Muslims to embrace peace and harmonious coexistence during di festival. For im goodwill message, Osoala talk say di celebration wey dey mark Prophet Ibrahim sacrifice, na time to reflect on values like obedience, faith, and submission to Allah.

“Eid al-Adha teaches us di values of sacrifice, tolerance, generosity, and love for humanity,” Osoala yarn. “As we celebrate dis sacred festival, Muslims should continue to uphold peaceful coexistence, show kindness to neighbours, support di less privileged, and foster unity irrespective of ethnic, religious, or political differences.”

Di cleric also advise Muslims to use di period to pray for peace and progress of Lagos State and Nigeria. He encourage residents to celebrate responsibly and appeal to wealthy individuals and corporate bodies to support vulnerable people through charity and humanitarian gestures.

Osoala offer prayers for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Speaker of di Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.

For Kwara State, Engr. Saleeman Adedoyin, Founder and Chairman of SAS Foundation, call on Kwarans to remain united and no allow politics divide dem as future elections dey approach. For im Eid-ul-Adha message to di Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and di Muslim Ummah, Adedoyin describe di festival as sacred occasion wey reflect sacrifice, obedience, compassion, and submission to Allah.

“As di political tides become heightened, we must not allow politics to divide us. Di unity, harmony, and peaceful coexistence wey Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State dey known for must remain our collective priority,” Adedoyin state.

He urge residents to see demselves as one people bound by shared history and culture, and to use di occasion to show kindness to di less privileged. “Di true essence of Eid lies in sharing, empathy, and compassion,” e add.

Adedoyin also call for sustained prayers for peace and development of Kwara State and Nigeria, noting say collective efforts and prayers remain essential for national progress.
