Ondo State Security Network Agency, wey dem dey call Amotekun Corps, don arrest 98 suspects wey dey suspected for different crimes, including some fake mad people wey dey help kidnappers and robbers for the state.
The Commander of the Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, yarn the matter when dem dey parade the suspects for the agency headquarters. According to am, many of the suspects dem arrest during anti-kidnapping operations wey dem carry out for different parts of the state, while others dem arrest for robbery, drug peddling, and things wey fit disturb public peace.
Adeleye talk say 60 of the suspects dey face prosecution for court, while 38 cases dem don settle through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). He add say 13 other suspects dey under investigation and interrogation before dem go face prosecution.
The Amotekun commander reveal say dem arrest 10 suspects for kidnapping scenes while dem dey try to carry out abduction. He also yarn say dem don discover new tactic wey criminals dey use: dem dey disguise as mad people so that nobody go suspect dem when dem dey do their bad things.
According to Adeleye, the fake mad people dey involve for drug trafficking, intelligence gathering for kidnappers, robbery, and other criminal activities across the state. He talk say, “Our intelligence and plainclothes officers monitored and tracked them to places where they charged their phones, changed clothes, and coordinated operations before they were arrested.”
Adeleye further narrate how Amotekun operatives rescue one couple wey kidnappers don take for Iluabo community, without anybody pay ransom. He explain say the agency’s rapid response team quickly enter the forest after dem hear the distress call, and dem rescue the woman first. Then dem do overnight operation and finally rescue the husband.
“We reunited the family without any ransom payment or negotiation,” the commander state. He blame the recent rise for kidnapping and other crimes on the pressure wey dey on criminals wey dey run from northern parts of the country.
Police and hunters don also rescue 12 kidnapped victims for Ondo State. The victims na passengers of one 18-passenger bus wey dey go Ibadan, but dem kidnap dem for Isua, Akoko South East Local Council Area. The Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, confirm the news and say the passengers dey come from Benue State when the bus dem attack.
Jimoh talk say the command quickly deploy operatives and local hunters, and dem rescue the 12 victims. He assure say dem go rescue the remaining victims and arrest the suspects. The Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, even go the scene to meet with community heads and vigilante groups.
