Mercedes war don start: Russell beat Antonelli for Canada sprint

Di battle between Mercedes drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli don finally boil over for di Canadian Grand Prix sprint race. Russell win di sprint, but di real drama na between di two Mercedes boys, as dem collide for track and Antonelli run off road two times.

Di Italian driver, Antonelli, bin complain over radio say Russell push am off track for di first incident and suppose get penalty. But team boss Toto Wolff no gree, e come radio back order am to concentrate on driving, not radio moaning.

Russell keep im cool for di lead, and for di penultimate lap, Antonelli try to pass McLaren‘s Lando Norris for di outside of Turn One but end up off track again. Norris hold firm and take second place, while Antonelli settle for third.

Dis victory cut Russell’s championship deficit to Antonelli to 18 points. Na big return to front for Russell after three consecutive grand prix wins for im teammate.

Di first flashpoint come for lap six, after di two Mercedes convert their front-row start into one-two. Antonelli try to pass Russell for di outside of Turn One, but end up for grass, manage to hold second place. Antonelli bin dey vex and continue complaint after race.

“Na tough battle,” e say. “I need to review dat. I try to make my move but I was quite well alongside and get push off.”

Later for di same lap, Antonelli overshoot im braking point for Turn Eight and plunge across grass out of di chicane. E hold im hands up for dat one, say e hit a bump and compromise im race.

Norris nip by into second place and soon challenge Russell for lead. After drop back a little, Antonelli make am three-way fight for lead, and with just under two laps to go, e try to pass Norris for Turn One. Again, e end up off track and Norris hold on.

Meanwhile, McLaren’s Oscar Piastri pass Lewis Hamilton‘s Ferrari for fourth into final corner, and di seven-time champion then lose another place to teammate Charles Leclerc for di run to first corner. Red Bull‘s Max Verstappen take seventh after lonely race, while Racing Bull’s Arvid Lindblad claim di final point for eighth.

Wolff, wey rarely talk for radio, bin order Antonelli to concentrate on driving. After di race, e say dem go talk private, not for radio. Di Austrian boss get experience from 2016 when Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg fight for title, and e no want repeat of dat.

“What I learned is dat I have to step in earlier – or dat we all have to step in earlier together – and not complain about it publicly,” Wolff tok.

Antonelli dey demand clarity for future races. “We do meetings before races and dat’s what we say in di room. Den, of course, we race to win and we try to do our best to defend our position. So, probably I understood di significance of dat meeting a bit differently,” e explain.

Di battle between di two Mercedes drivers set to continue, as both dey fight for wins and di championship. Wolff say e go use im experience to manage di situation and make sure di team come first.
