Di 19-year-old and two 18-year-olds ride off, ignore police lights, and eventually go 60 mph for area wey be 35 mph zone. Just as Hillard walk into im kitchen, di car smash through concrete barrier wey supposed stop vehicles from running off road toward di house.
Resident Keith Hillard tell Channel 9’s Ken Lemon say e still dey shock. “I thank God that I’m alive today,” Hillard tell Lemon. Hillard no fit shake di feeling. “Mentally, physically, I’m really shook, man,” e say. “Honestly, I’m really shook, and I’m trying to mask it, but I’m really shook, Ken.” Hillard recall di moment di car smash into im home. “Next thing I know, I hear screeching, and ‘Kaboom,’ a car knocks di whole … everything loose, and di wall dey come at me,” e say.
Di car go through di living room of apartment A. Di people inside dey sleep for back room. Hillard dey for apartment B. “One guy was unconscious in di car, had to cut am out,” Hillard say. Firefighters had to pry open Apartment A to get di neighbors out. Di cars wey park for front of di house also mangle. Work crews replace di hole for wall, but apartment A still no fit live inside. “Stop doing dis stuff wey dey senseless,” Hillard say. Hillard talk say di American Red Cross help people for both apartments recover.
