NDC peg presidential form at N40m, release timetable for 2027 primaries

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, don announce say dem don begin sale of expression of interest and nomination forms for aspirants wey want run for elective positions for 2027 general election.

For statement wey dem release on Tuesday and sign by Moses Zuwoghe, national chairman, and Ikenna Enekweizu, national secretary, the party say sale of expression of interest forms go start on May 13 and finish on May 18, 2026.

Dem say screening and interview of aspirants go take place from May 19 to May 21, 2026. According to the timetable, the screening exercise go determine eligibility for purchase of nomination forms.

The party advise aspirants to come for screening with their relevant credentials and supporting documents.

NDC say sale of nomination forms go start immediately after screening, from May 21 to May 23, while completed forms must submit on or before May 25, 2026.

Appeals from screening process go be entertained between May 25 and May 26, while primary elections for various offices dey scheduled for May 27 and May 28.

The party say their presidential primary election go hold on May 29, 2026, for Abuja.

Aspirants wey dey seek tickets for state houses of assembly go be screened for their respective states, while screening for national assembly and presidential aspirants go take place for the party national headquarters for Abuja.

Governorship primaries go be conducted at local government level.

According to the statement, all aspirants go sign an undertaking in line with the party guidelines and code of conduct.

The party assure members and aspirants of a transparent, inclusive, and democratic process for sale of forms and conduct of primaries.

NDC say dem go adopt open secret ballot system for primaries to guarantee credibility, fairness, and internal democracy.

The party add say their approved nomination fees remain among the lowest among major political parties for the country.

Dem fix fees for house of representatives aspirants at N2 million for expression of interest forms and N4 million for nomination forms.

Senate aspirants go pay N3 million for expression of interest and N5 million for nomination forms.

Governorship forms dey N10 million for expression of interest and N20 million for nomination, while presidential aspirants go pay N20 million and N40 million respectively.

Female aspirants and persons with disabilities go pay 50 percent and 25 percent of the fees across all categories.
