Madrid wan increase rent subsidy, new housing plan dey for Balearic Islands

Spanish government for Madrid dey plan to extend rent subsidy reach apartments wey cost pass 900 euros per month. The Minister Council go decide am tomorrow. This move na part of new housing plan wey dem just approve for 2026 to 2030.

For Balearic Islands like Mallorca, government set aside 168 million euros to fight housing crisis for next five years. This one big pass the 45 million euros wey dem use before. The money go come from Spanish state (60%) and autonomous communities (40%).

According to the plan, at least 40% of the funds go enter building and buying new houses. Another 30% go help renovate old apartments, while the remaining 30% go protect vulnerable groups and areas. New anti-fraud clause and public data system for transparency dey inside the plan.

But Balearic Government say dem want more say on how to spend the money for their islands. Housing Minister José Luis Mateo complain say the plan come late and no proper consultation with regions happen. Mateo argue say since Balearic Government dey contribute about 68 million euros from the 168 million total, dem suppose get decision power too.

Mateo also talk say housing policy responsibility dey for autonomous communities. Dem never meet with housing ministers from regions since October 2025. The Minister say this na first time state housing plan take so many months delay before approval.

Meanwhile, for Paris, Catalan community dey celebrate Sant Jordi festival on April 25, 2026 at Place de Catalogne. Event include book and rose market plus free activities from 10am to 3:30pm. Poet Anna Gual go give opening speech, followed by poetry reading with French poet Maud Thiria.

Other activities include human tower displays by Castellers de Paris, traditional Sardanas dance workshop with Pau Requena, and literary walk with podcast creators Mireia Arguijo and Nil Codina. Children activities include storytelling by Esteve Guardiola and creative workshop with illustrator Mar Guixé.

Catalan language workshop go hold at Bibliothèque Benoîte Groult and on the square, taught by teacher Albert Tomàs. The day go end with concert by singer-composer Alba Mafalda. Only the language workshop require advance registration because e no dey hold for the main square.
