According to club statement, the team dey return from Ghana Premier League match against Samartex for Samreboi when the attack happen. The bus driver try to reverse as the armed men begin shoot. Players and staff run enter nearby bush for cover.
Police say Frimpong die while dem dey treat am for hospital. The bus carry about 30 players and officials, but na only Frimpong die for the attack. Ghana Football Association express “profound shock and deep sorrow” for statement wey dem release.
GFA describe Frimpong as “promising young talent whose dedication and passion for the game embodied the spirit of our league.” The young player join Berekum Chelsea on loan from Aduana FC for January. For this season, e score two goals for 13 appearances.
This attack no be first time wey Ghana football team face danger for road. FC Savannah, Wa All Stars, Legon Cities and AshantiGold all don experience similar attacks for recent years. For 2023, Legon Cities bus sef suffer attack after match for Samartex, but nobody die that time.

The attack happen between Goaso and Bibiani as team dey return from Samreboi. Samreboi dey about 270km from Berekum. Berekum Chelsea lose the match 1-0 before the tragic attack.
