Na big history wey happen for German football today o. Union Berlin just appoint Marie-Louise Eta as their new head coach for the men team. This one mean say she don become the first woman wey go manage men team for top European league. E shock many people, but na true talk.
The club sack their former coach Steffen Baumgart after dem lose 3-1 to Heidenheim for Saturday match. That loss na the last straw wey make dem decide to change coach. Union Berlin don dey struggle since January – dem only win two matches from fourteen wey dem play. Marie-Louise Eta na 34-year-old German woman wey sabi football well well. As player before, she win Champions League with Turbine Potsdam for 2010. For Union Berlin, she don dey coach the under-19 team this season. She even work as assistant coach to the former men team coach Nenad Bjelica. One time for 2024, she handle media duties when Bjelica get touchline ban.
Now she go take over the men team until season end. After that, she go become head coach for Union Berlin women team from summer. The club director for men football, Horst Heldt, talk say dem need fresh start because their performance no good at all. “Our situation remain precarious,” Heldt yarn. “We urgently need points to secure our place for the league.”
Eta herself talk say she happy with the opportunity. “I am delighted that the club has entrusted me with this challenging task,” she talk for club website. “One of Union’s strengths has always been, and remains, the ability to pull together in such situations.” She believe say the team go collect the important points wey dem need.

For England July 2023, Forest Green appoint Hannah Dingley as caretaker boss, but she no manage any competitive match. So Eta own na different thing – she go dey on touchline for Bundesliga matches proper.
