Two pipo dey contest for Lake County judge position, election dey May 5

For Lake County, two candidates dey ready to contest for judge position for Domestic Relations Court. The primary election go hold May 5, and the two pipo wey dey run na Timothy Black and Jennifer Himmelein. Judge Colleen Falkowski no dey run again, so the winner go face November election without opposition unless independent candidate or write-in candidate show up.

According to Lake County Elections Board Director Dante Lewis, registered voters for the area reach 161,425. Black wey be 69 years old currently work as magistrate for the same Domestic Relations Court. Before now, he don serve as magistrate for Willoughby Municipal Court and as Willoughby councilman at large.

Black talk say if dem elect am, he go help develop new case management software program. He go continue to work with software developers and other Lake County stakeholders for this matter. Himmelein wey be 43 years old currently work as attorney for Lake County Prosecutor’s Office. She don serve as magistrate for the Domestic Relations Court before and na former certified family law specialist by Ohio State Bar Association.

Black say he want create new and better forms to make filing for Domestic Relations court easier for lawyers and pro-se parties. He also aim to work within county budget to be more efficient and provide timely decisions on family matters wey dey come before court every day. “My legal and administrative experience make me uniquely qualified for this position,” Black yarn.

Himmelein say if dem elect am, she go create comprehensive plan to update and modernize the Domestic Relations Court. She go revise outdated local rules and forms, streamline processes and improve overall efficiency. “My goal go be to ensure say Lake County Domestic Relations Court dey modern, accessible and responsive to community needs,” Himmelein talk.

Black believe say him experience as city councilman give am knowledge and capacity to address budget issues and other administrative matters wey involve being judge for court with $1.5 million budget and more than 20 employees. Himmelein say she go leverage technology and best practices to modernize court operations, including improving case management systems, expanding digital access and reducing unnecessary paperwork.

“Voters suppose elect me because experience, hard work and dedication matter,” Himmelein add. “For most of my career, I don dedicate myself to family law. Not only I get broad understanding of law, but I don experience firsthand how court decisions affect families. Work ethic, dedication and compassion also important.”

The two candidates dey present different approaches to same position. Black focus on administrative experience and budget management, while Himmelein emphasize modernization and technology. Voters go decide May 5 who go take over from Judge Falkowski.

People aware say dem dey try impose Hindi through new education policy. All that against wetin we build here,” she yarn.

She also talk say Union government don hold back funds wey suppose come to Tamil Nadu schools because state say dem no fit accept three-language policy. “Anybody wey align with BJP, I no think people dey prepared to forgive them,” Kanimozhi add.

On welfare schemes, Kanimozhi describe am as social investments no be burden on state finances. “State na like mother. Mama no go borrow if pikin need something for betterment or education? That na exactly how e be. For future of state, for future of people of state,” she explain.

She talk about women income support scheme wey go increase from ₹1,000 to ₹2,000. “You fit look am as giving money away. But e dey empower women. This woman wey never even think of working, first time she think say this na economic freedom and I suppose start work, make my money. She go ensure say her daughter go get that economic freedom throughout her life. So this na investment,” Kanimozhi yarn.

On law and order and women safety, Kanimozhi talk say government don ensure action and accountability. “For Thoothukudi and recent case where rape and murder of young girl happen, perpetrator dem arrest within 10 days. Person no even connect to that area. But we ensure say dem arrest the person and we go make sure justice dey done. E happen for many cases,” she talk.

On Vijay entry into politics, Kanimozhi acknowledge say he get fan following but remain sceptical of electoral impact. “He na very popular actor and don act successful films for over 20 years. He go get fan following wey go interest to come see am. But when e come to voting, Tamil Nadu people don always sensible. Dem know say development wey DMK government don start suppose continue,” she yarn.
