Super Eagles miss World Cup again, Osimhen cry for pain

Naija football fans dey feel serious heartbreak as Super Eagles no qualify for 2026 World Cup. For di second time straight, our national team go watch di mundial from house. Dis one na big blow for country wey get plenty talent but no fit show face for world stage.

Di journey begin well for qualifying group. Nigeria dey inside Group C with South Africa, Benin, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Rwanda. On paper, na easy group but football no dey play for paper. Super Eagles draw five matches out of ten. Dem win four, lose one. Dat one no reach at all.

Victor Osimhen try him best. Di Galatasaray striker score four goals during qualifiers, including hat-trick against Benin for last match. But even with him effort, South Africa carry first position with just one point ahead of Nigeria. Benin follow us closely but our goal difference save us small.

Because we come second for group, we enter playoff for chance to play intercontinental match. First match na against Gabon. Tension high. Nigeria lead 1-0 until 89th minute when Mario Lemina equalize. Extra time come, Super Eagles wake up, score three more goals. Osimhen get two of dem. 4-1 final score.

Final playoff match na against DR Congo. Na winner-take-all affair. Nigeria start well but Congo equalize before halftime. Di painful part happen when manager Eric Chelle substitute Osimhen at halftime. Di striker dey cry from leg pain. Fans vex but medical team confirm injury serious.

Match go to penalties after 1-1 draw. Congo win 4-3. Di dream burst. No World Cup for Nigeria again. Osimhen, wey never play World Cup before, go wait another four years. At 27 now, time dey run.

Meanwhile, other African teams celebrate. Cabo Verde qualify for first time ever. South Africa go represent. Even DR Congo wey beat us go fly to America. Na only Nigeria dey look.

For Europe side, big names like Italy miss out again. Gianluigi Donnarumma cry after penalty loss to Bosnia. Alessandro Bastoni get red card wey cost Italy di match. Sandro Tonali score but no help. Italy no see World Cup since 2014.

Robert Lewandowski of Poland cry too. At 37, dis World Cup na him last chance. Sweden beat dem with late goal. Lewandowski Instagram post show Andrea Bocelli song ‘Time to Say Goodbye.’ Na emotional moment.

Cameroon join Nigeria for missing out. Bryan Mbeumo of Manchester United go watch from house. Carlos Baleba of Brighton no get chance to shine. Indomitable Lions draw too many matches like Super Eagles.

Wales lose to Bosnia on penalties. Neco Williams play all 120 minutes but no help. Northern Ireland Conor Bradley injured, no even play qualifiers. Ukraine Illia Zabarnyi try but Sweden beat dem 3-1.

Denmark Victor Froholdt, young talent from Porto, miss out after penalty loss to Czechia. Lamine Yamal of Spain face racist chants during friendly but Spain go World Cup. Mohamed Sissoko talk say match for stop.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni talk say Lionel Messi fit reach 1000 career goals. Messi just cross 900. But for Nigeria, we no dey talk about records now. We dey talk about how we no qualify.

Fans dey ask questions. Na why our talented players no fit deliver when e matter? Osimhen dey top form for club but country different matter. Midfield no creative enough. Defense sometimes shaky. Coaches come and go but problem remain.

Now, Nigeria Football Federation need to find solution. Four years dey long time but preparation must start now. Young players like Akor Adams need integration. System must change. Fans patience dey finish.

World Cup 2026 go hold for USA, Canada and Mexico. 48 teams go play. Nigeria no dey among dem. Painful truth. Osimhen go watch from Turkey where he dey play for Galatasaray. Other Naija players for Europe go join him.

Di only consolation na say we qualify for next African Cup of Nations. But World Cup na different level entirely. Na where legends dey made. Osimhen chance dey slip. Four years time, he go be 31. Still fit play but peak years dey go.

For now, Naija football fans must swallow dis bitter pill. We go support other African teams but e no go sweet like if our own Super Eagles dey there. Hope say 2030 go better. But hope alone no enough. Action needed.
