Before I waka go Abuja dis morning, I meet with Mr. Robert Piper, wey be Assistant Secretary General and special adviser to the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres. I also meet Mr. Mathias Schemale, di Humanitarian Coordinator and Resident Coordinator of UN Geneva. Dem dey come with all di heads of UN agencies from Adamawa and Borno for di state lounge of Yola International Airport.
Di UN team dey for dis state for working visit. Dem congratulate me on di just concluded gubernatorial elections and appreciate our government for di good support wey we dey give to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). Dem commend my leadership for di step wey I dey take in supporting sustainable solutions and initiatives for di state.
I also use di opportunity tell di UN and oda donor agencies say dem suppose improve di quality of housing facilities wey dem dey provide for IDPs currently. I stress say dem need to settle di IDPs well within dia communities, make dem no dey stay far from city centers.
Finally, I urge dem to collaborate with di ministry for entrepreneurship to teach di IDPs skills wey go help dem improve dia source of livelihood instead of just dey give dem handouts.
