Na as we dey check am, from 2023 to 2026, dem allocate N12.99 billion just for these long-standing committees wey fit call grandfathers for politics. E mean say dem dey spend N4.37 billion yearly for committee-related wahala, unlike the N3 billion dem dey spend before na under the previous administration. E be like say na serious business dem dey do now o!
A quick breakdown: for 2023, Tinubu government budgeted N3.73 billion for committees like the Presidential Advisory Committee and all those fancy names wey dem no fit remember. But no be only the normal committees o, dem create more ad hoc ones wey dey handle specific issues, just like hot hot palliative to cool down the labour movement when fuel price dey increase like say na Nigeria be the new oil baron.
Dem showcase all these committees after dem put hand for land reform, flood mitigation and plenty other areas wey fit make somebody head scatter. Na even the National Economic Council don form own set of committees wey dey beat on policy matter plus oil theft, wey no be small matter. 2024 alone see 25 new committees wey don cover sectors wey fit make Naija shine.
But chuk what you see, some people dey talk say all these committees no dey lead to anything better. Deji Adeyanju wey be sociopolitical activist talk say na just political patronage dem dey find. E dey vex say committee no dey fit deliver tangible results, just dey take money fly away—like that money wey dey vanish after party when everybody don chop belle full.
