About 1,000 indigent senior secondary school pikin for Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo don collect free Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and West African Examination Council (WAEC) forms. Na Mr. Ayodele Asalu wey carry the gist come happen during the 10th anniversary of this waka, and e take place for Ejigbo, Osun State, last Wednesday.
This one no be small gathering o! Students, their parents, teachers, and some big men from All Progressives Congress (APC) wey dey for the constituency come join the celebration. Mr. Asalu wey na APC chieftain talk say e launch this initiative since 2016 to help the ones wey get brain but no get money to pay for higher school. E don dey make sure say these better pikin fit shine for school.
Asalu gree talk say every year, dem dey increase di number of beneficiaries to fit meet the rising demand. Humble pie, e sabi say as e don dey run this matter for ten years, dem don don share more than 7,000 forms for this local government. For this edition, 450 students collect WAEC forms while 550 dey carry UTME forms go, and all WAEC beneficiaries dey automatically get JAMB registration. Na good move, abi?
How dem take select the winners? Na from 20 public secondary schools for Ejigbo dem draw di pikin, and dem pick di best 15 from each school. Sometimes, dem dey even involve religious bodies, traditional institutions, and community leaders to make sure say everybody get fair chance.
Asalu also tell di pikin and their parents say make dem use dis opportunity well, no dey slack in their exams. As per The PUNCH report for 2024, about 600 students don receive WAEC and UTME registration forms before, thanks to Asalu wey dey focus on making things easy for di families wey dey struggle.
Dis time, Asalu carry 350 students come collect free JAMB forms, and 250 others take WAEC registration forms. E still dey call on rich Nigerians to help the poor ones, make dem fit survive this harsh economy wey dey scatter ground. E talk say if we fit do this for each other, e go bring plenty peace and harmony come our society.
