Tragedy for Lekan: Food Vendor Electrocuted for UNILAG Campus

My people, serious matter dey for UNILAG o! Lekan, wey be food vendor, don japa after he suffer electrocution wahala for the Idi-Araba campus. This yawa happen for Sunday morning, around 10 a.m., as he go dispose waste and stop fit wash him hands.

Eyewitness wey talk gree to keep im name for pocket, say as Lekan dey wash im hands, e mistakenly touch metal railing near the tap. Bam! Na there the shock hit am, and before you know, he don fall down like say he dey do heavy sleep.

Thank God say one security man dey around wey notice say: “This guy wey dey lie down no fit dey chill like dat.” Na im raise alarm wey make people gather for the scene. Other students, wey kno say na Lekan dey involve, rush go check am. Dem fit try do CPR for about 10 minutes, and he even wake small before dem rush am go Accident and Emergency unit for the campus.

But alas, e no fit survive. Dem no declare am dead for the spot, but later for A&E, em confirm say the guy don go meet his maker. Sad matter, sha!

Joshua Saanumi, wey be Secretary-General for UNILAG Students’ Union Government, don confirm this story, talk say everybody dey feel bad and dem don start to do everything wey dem fit to help. E say lekki wahala like this no suppose dey for school wey dey claim safety.

Police wey dey patrol Lagos State don hear the gist sharp-sharp, dem come check the place and the A&E where Lekan dey. Engineers sef dey there make dem check wetin wrong for the area, but for now, no sign show say the railing no dey okay, as students dey use the spot every day without any wahala before now.

As e be, the university come release statement, wey Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, wey be Head of Communication Unit, sign. Dem dey express their deep sorrow say Lekan don go like this. Dem advise everybody make dem no jump to conclusion as investigation dey go on.

This matter dey show how we need to take safety serious for our school and other public places, my people. Lekan dey go, but his memory go still dey live for our hearts. Make we all dey careful as we dey waka around o!
