Omo, wahala no dey finish for Ondo State as PDP and APC don begin throw jabs over di new 2026 budget wey Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa don sign. Dem call am ‘Budget of Economic Consolidation’ but e be like say na for dem self dem budget pass oo!
The budget dey total ₦524 billion, but wetin dey make people eye dey shine na di way dem wan chop di money. Na ₦220 billion for recurrent expenses and ₦303 billion for capital projects, but PDP no gree rest for dis matter! Dem dey claim say dem government dey focus on how to enjoy di life of dem politicians rather than di life of di common man… As e be now, dem don budget ₦23.3 billion just for government vehicles alone, including ₦2.1 billion for 27 Toyota Fortuner SUVs!
Abeg, make we reason am: dem dey spend more on cars for 26 lawmakers and one clerk, while dem budget only ₦69 million for drugs and medical supplies for over 5 million people wey dey Ondo State. As di PDP talk am, na less than ₦15 naira per person for medicine for one year! Na real madness dis one be, especially for state wey dey face wahala with healthcare centers wey dey fail, and rising maternal deaths.
Di APC no go gree o! Dem respond sharp sharp, say PDP dey twist di facts to make dem government look bad. According to Steve Otaloro wey be di APC media director, di budget na solid plan wey go help bring economic stability and proper governance. E talk say di expenditure on cars no be just for fun, but na to make sure say di lawmakers fit carry di work wey dem get to do without wahala.
Dem come add say to isolate one line item from di whole budget na foul play! Dem dey move for development wey concern healthcare, education, and infrastructure, but e be like sey PDP dey no wan hear all dat one.
Omo, as di wahala dey go, wetin crown anybody head na only di people wey dey suffer under this kind budget go fit talk! Na dem fit decide if dis ‘Economic Consolidation’ na true or na just one big party jollification wey we dey see here. Na so e be for dis politics matter. E go dey interesting to see how dis drama go unfold as 2026 dey come closer!
