Wetin dey happen for Venezuela? My people, make I yarn you this correct gist. Juan Pablo Guanipa, wey be big political figure wey dey fight against the current government, don finally come out for prison after more than eight months of lock-up. E no be small thing o!
Guanipa wey dey close to opposition leader, Maria Corina Machado, don make video wey show say him don free again. For the video, him talk say, ‘Today, we are being released. Much to discuss about the present and future of Venezuela, always with the truth at the forefront.’ Dis matter no be small, as e show say hope dey for Venezuela even as dem dey shake the table.
Diaspora and local people wey dey follow politics for Venezuela don dey hail this release like say na festival. Guanipa dey part of many political prisoners wey don dey released as dem dey try respond to pressure from US and other international bodies. But no be all Venezuelans dem don release, e still dey plenty wey dey suffer for inside prison for political reasons.
Before dis release, Guanipa don face serious wahala. E don dey accused of leading terrorist group wey wan sabotage election – wetin wey no make sense. His brother, Tomás, don come out yan say make dem no classify think as crime just because person get different opinion. E talk say, ‘Thinking differently cannot be criminalized.’ Na true talk, my people.
According to rights group Foro Penal, dem don release about 400 political prisoners in total since dem start this new movement. But nonetheless, according to Ramón Guanipa, Guanipa’s son, dem still get hundreds wey still dey for inside prison. He don let us know say, ‘There are still hundreds of Venezuelans unjustly imprisoned.’
Guanipa, wey don serve as vice-president of the National Assembly, no just dey come out from prison, im dey come out in a very tense environment wey gatz concern the whole world. The acting President Delcy RodrÃguez, wey na Madura’s ally, dey face heavy scrutiny as pressure don increase for her to release more political prisoners.
Even though dem don free Guanipa, e still dey show say the political tension no go die down anytime soon. The interim government still need to do more to win the trust of the people, and as the drama dey unfold, everybody dey monitor wetin go happen next.
Guanipa’s allies dey vibrate as im don speak up about freedom for other political prisoners. For social media, Machado, wey be Nobel Peace Prize winner, don also shout out for dem still wey dey for prison, she no wan make anybody forget about dem. ‘Let’s go for the freedom of Venezuela!’ she don talk. Na so we dey pray and hope say the movement for freedom go take hold for dis beleaguered nation.
This whole case don show the power of the people, and as dem dey push dem agenda for change and liberation, we go dey here dey watch, hopin’ for the best. But we know say, dis road go long, but with faith, dem go dey break for light someday. No retreat, no surrender!
