Aníkúlápó: The Ghoul We Dey Watch No Get Focus

My people, make we gist small about Aníkúlápó: The Ghoul Awakens. Na im be the latest drama wey dey drop for Netflix, and e no dey too sweet for mouth. Kunle Afolayan don carry us enter di next chapter of Saro saga, but wahala no go finish for dia.

As we fit remember, Saro na dis guy wey don experience demi-god level after e find charm wey fit bring people back to life. But wahala come dey as him don abuse di power wey no suppose fall him hand. E dey hard to believe say after all di lessons, Saro still dey deal with earthly pleasures. E don even get pikin! But trust Nigerian storytelling; everything wey get head and tail no dey follow am.

For this new season, Basorun Ogunjimi wey don die still dey turn matter upside down as spirit. E dey waka for di spirit land but e no gree say ‘I’m finished’ as e come back as ghoul wey dey chop human lives. Talk about irony! Dis one wey we sabi how dem wicked guys go go hell, now dem come dey go back to streets to wreak havoc.

Di political drama still dey unfold for Yoruba land, but one huge gap dey wey fit make you wonder if dis na historical film or just fantasy. Basorun wey suppose dey run things for Oyo Mesi dey missing! Abeg, who dey appoint leaders for dis town? Everything dey scatter as we dey watch dem struggle amid di madness. We even get new characters like Aderoju – na true warrior wey dey fight for im sister Omowunmi, wey dey waka up and down like lost child.

Afolayan try to bring us all di juicy side of characters, but e dey lose track of di main story. Each person dey carry their own problem, but na so we fit see dem as dem dey intersect. Dis star-studded cast no really shine for screen, like dem dey try but e be like sey dem dey act for different movies.

Truth be say, Aníkúlápó: The Ghoul Awakens dey miss some serious storyline ingredients. Di blend of Yoruba culture wey we sabi fit no dey jell proper again. E no even catch di intensity wey dem say dey suppose dey feel when dem dey mix culture and supernatural things.

Instead, we dey see characters dey try struggle wan piece di puzzle together, but e be like se dem dey chase shadow. Di ghoul palava wey suppose make sense just dey float without anchoring, and di intertwining plots just dey fade like ash.

For acting, no be everybody dey bring di heat. Eyiyemi Afolayan wey represent Omowunmi dey give us small ginger, but e no dey connect with di character vibe wella. As for Saga, e dey make effort, but di connection no dey strong. E be like say dem just dey waka around with lost vibes.

In conclusion, Afolayan dey try experiment, but e fit not work with dis one. Di show still dey find im feet, and di wahala wey dey stem from imbalance and storyless rambling na wetin dey make am no dey stand tall. Gist no dey flow for dem like how dem go want. Rating? I fit give am 2 out of 5, because sabi na each character dey fight for preservation.
