The VC make this gist known during one press conference wey dem hold on Monday for the University’s Council Chambers, ahead of the big convocation wey go take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026. According to am, we get 2,519 students wey enter Second Class Upper, 3,777 wey enter Second Class Lower, 966 wey just manage Third Class, and even three people wey dey carry Pass degree. Na wah!
But no be only that oo, the Overall Best Graduating Student na Adeniyi Maryam Adedolapo wey dey study Medical Sciences (Anatomy). This babe graduate come carry CGPA of 4.89. Chai! Talk about brain!
As the convocation dey come, dem also go give honorary doctorate degrees to some big men wey don help our country. Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi; Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III; former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen; and the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah, go receive this special recognition. Na to show say dem don contribute well well for national development and humanity. Kudos to dem!
Professor Fasina no stop there, e still talk say FUOYE don shine like star for the past five years. E mention say everything wey dey for him 20-point agenda don dey achieve one way or the other. Na 310 percent increase in Internally Generated Revenue dem get, faculties don increase from 8 to 18, and academic programmes don jump from 73 to 91! All these don get either full or interim accreditation. Na serious work dem dey do!
For rankings matter, this university don emerge as the fourth most subscribed university for Nigeria and dem dey rank fourth nationally for the 2026 Times Higher Education rankings. Even for global rankings, dem dey do well for Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, World University Rankings by Subject, Interdisciplinary Science Rankings, and Sub-Saharan Africa Rankings. Na achievement wey fit make our head swell!
Over 160 infrastructural projects don happen under the watch of the VC, plus major investment for digital transformation, research grants, staff development, and student welfare. He talk say these achievements don make the university stand like fast-rising institution wey dey gain both national and global relevance.
Fasina no forget to share him hope, as e talk say dem don adopt one new Strategic Plan for 2026–2030 wey go help consolidate all the gains wey dem don make so far.
