FG Don Revamp Agricultural Scheme to Boost Food Supply

The Federal Government don start serious review of National Agricultural Growth Scheme and Agro-Pocket Project after dem record over 2.5 million metric tons of produce wey worth over N2.3 trillion. During one workshop wey happen recently, the Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Aliyu Abdullahi, gather everyone wey dey involved for agriculture to look into wetin don happen since dem kick off this programme. According to am, dem go use this meeting as opportunity to check wetin work, wetin no work, and wetin dem need change to make di scheme better for everybody.

Dis minister try show us say, “E no be lie, over four seasons, we don fit gather 2,536,184 metric tons of produce. Wetin come be our achievement na say e don help reduce food price for obodo Nigeria. As we dey talk now, food prices don dey decline, and dem dey work to balance the input cost too.” E mean say our farmers dey get better chance to make dey dey sell dem goods without wahala.

Abdullahi come talk say na President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declare state of emergency for food and nutrition security; he wan ensure sey everybody for Nigeria fit chop beta food well well. “We no dey play with our agricultural sector again. Na food, na the people wey dey hungry matter pass right now,” he emphasize. E even talk say government dey ready to collect public suggestions to make sure say di NAGS-AP Project dey important for everybody.

The NAGS-AP Project dey focus on six key food crops: wheat, rice, maize, sorghum, soyabean, and cassava. This na part of di Food Security Emergency Support Programme wey dem launch to make sure sey food dey plenty for market. E go help us close di gap between wetin we dey produce and wetin we need.

Even more good news dey comot, dem don plan to add more partners to make the project dey expand. Abdullahi gree tell us say dem go join hands with International bodies to make sure sey dem fit cover ground well for rice, maize, and cassava production this coming farming season. Na wah!

The National Project Coordinator, Ishaku Buba, also te talk say dem no go just stop for provision of inputs for farmers; dem go ensure sey support dey come for better performance. E even talk say dem go deploy agricultural extension agents wey go make sure sey farmers dey get quality inputs irrespective of where dem dey.

Since the NAGS-AP Project start for dry season of 2023, e don support plenty farmers all over di country and even plan to embrace large dry-season wheat farming. Wetin be better news be say government don get land wey dem set aside for production, and dem target say output values go reach billions of naira.
