My people, wetin dey happen for Ogun State no wey small matter! Binta Bello, wey be di DG for NAPTIP, don yarn some serious gist about how we fit use our school pikin dem take fight against child trafficking. E no be joke o!
As she dey waka go Kobape Grammar School, she talk say dem go reach over 50 schools for di state with this awareness program. Wetin make am sweet be say, NAPTIP dey partner with Ogun State Government and one international body wey get mouth for migration policy. And guess wetin, na di Netherlands government dey fund am!
Bello suggest say, school pikin no suppose dey blind to di wahala wey dey happen around dem. Some bad guys fit be people wey dem sabi well-well, maybe some family members sef. So e go good make dem dey alert and fit raise alarm if dem see anything wey no correct.
“This Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Persons Vanguard campaign no be play, o! As we dey involve our children, dem go know as traffickers dey operate and how dem dey target innocent pikin,” she talk.
She also add say last year, dem don run dis program for 10 schools, and for dis year, 15 schools dey stand gidigba for phase one wey don start, with four schools don already receive dem. Wetin mean be say, di program dey spread well-well!
Samuel Okoroji, wey be Project Officer for di School Anti-Trafficking Education and Empowerment Project, come add more pepper to di gist. He talk say dem don spread this project go five states – Ogun, Benue, Delta, Edo, and Enugu, and dem wan reach 50 schools for each state. Na to stop this trafficking matter wey dey rampant for Nigeria, dem dey work!
Mrs Adeyinka Akinyele, wey be di Principal of Kobape Grammar School, come dey shine teeth as she thank NAPTIP and dem partners for di outreach wey dey help reduce di child trafficking wahala wey dey happen. Dis matter no be small thing, and e dey affect many families.
As 2024 U.S. Department of State report don dey talk, trafficking for Nigeria dey pose serious wahala, as we dey serve as source, transit, and destination for victims. Wetin baffle be say, even though Nigeria dey try with legal actions and don increase dem conviction rate, we still dey on Tier 2 Watchlist. Meaning we never fully meet di standards to stop di trafficking wahala.
Make no one faint! E get wetin dem dey talk for di street, say if we no join hand to dey fight dis matter from di bottom, e go dey hard for us to see change. Na so dem dey yarn for beer joint, ‘if no be we, who go help us?’ So make we dey gather intelligence, share the gist, and make sure say our pikin dem dey safe no matter wetin!
