For statement wey him release, Atiku talk say dis action na big betrayal of democracy wey sabi spoil credibility, transparency plus public trust wey we suppose get for our electoral matter.
Na so the Senators take dey gree gree say dem no go follow the proposed amendment wey go make electronic transmission of results mandatory. Instead, dem wan hold on to di old provision wey dey say say di presiding officer go fit transfer results anyhow wey dem wan.
As e be, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, no gree say dem totally reject electronic transmission but e still dey use old ways wey plenty people don dey complain about. Atiku no take am likely, e no be small. Him talk say make dem no dey block real-time transmission wey go fit bring light to wetin dey happen for election time.
Him dey vex say if dem no allow electronic transmission, na so dem go dey shift blame when things no dey go well. According to am: “To reject am and hold on to di old way mean say dem no wan make elections pass under public eye.” Na wetin him dey call lack of commitment to free and fair elections.
Atiku dey remind us say Nigerians deserve elections wey go show wetin we get for ballot; no be wahala and wahala anymore. E still throw shout out to everybody wey dey interested: media, civil society, and even di international community to shine their eyes for this matter and make sure say we dey push for beta system.
“Na time wey other nations dey embrace technology for their electoral process, but we still dey carry old school matter for head. No be small. We no suppose dey collect votes wey no clear, we need everything transparent and verifiable,” na wetin Atiku yarn.
So, my people, wetin we go do now? Make we all put mouth for dis mata, cause as e be now, we no fit allow them carry us go one chance again. Everybody get voice, make we shout am loud!
