No be small matter o! The Nigerian Press Organisation (NPO) don raise alarm, say if we no take time, the way all these digital platforms dey operate fit scatter our social harmony and security. E no be joke! These foreign algorithms don dey control wetin we dey see for our screens, and e dey affect how people go fit reason and talk about wetin dey happen for our country.
For statement wey dem drop, NPO talk say dis issue don become critical as dem notice sey these platforms dey twist narratives wey dey affect professional journalism, the very heart of democracy. Na dem get power now, and we for Nigeria dey watch as dem dey manipulate wetin we dey hear and believe.
The umbrella body wey include all the major media groups for Nigeria, from Newspaper Proprietors to the Guild of Editors and more, talk say this matter dey threaten wetin we sabi as informed governance. The statement dey remind us say, as we be multi-ethnic, multi-religious country, we need trustworthy journalism wey fit carry everybody along and not jump from one wahala to another.
Dem talk say government fit no just fold hands; dem fit take action. Even big countries like UK and EU don show say dem dey work on laws to control these gatekeepers.
