My people, una don hear say e fit happen again? Na government shutdown we dey talk about… no money, no wahala, if dem no pass budget na so people go dey carry body waka home!
As we dey enter the last week of January, omoh, Congress never fit agree on funding bills wey go cover departments like Defense, State and others. Na serious gbege be that o, because January 30 na the deadline!
All these big departments dey hustle for money, from Defense to Homeland Security. If dem no settle am before deadline, plenty offices go shutdown, and people go dey stay house without pay. E go sweet me if dem fit solve am quick, but for now, na drama full ground.
Agency for Abuja dey prepare for wahala, contractors and grant recipients gatz also shine their eye. You fit dey wonder, where I go see money? Wetin go happen to my payments?
Shut that mood down, make we run am together. If money don dey allocated for your contract or grant, the government fit still owe you the cash, but if dem no dey work, you fit dey expect delay. Na so e be!
If your work dey gree with full funding or dem don pay few months wahala wa on top termination costs, you dey safe. But if as e be, and wahala show face, then you fit need to follow the matter close, dey ready for any gbege.
Also, contractors dey ask, “How I fit protest?” If they dey make clumsy moves, mistaking workers for contractors, your voice fit still dey count during this shutdown my people. Just make your matter land properly on time.
Na so we dey fall o, you see, shutdown dey bring issues with paychecks too. FLSA and WARN Act wey dey protect workers’ rights, fit come into play. Say e go be unpaid leave? Na wah, but many contractors might send workers on unpaid leave, sha! You gatz mark your calendar if you dey work so you no go lose status. Na who no work, no pay!
And as the budget matters dey unfold for this government side, be ready for surprises. If wahala too sweet, workers dey fit face problems with payment deadlines, so strengthen your mind! These are true stories, my friend.
