This one na serious level, my people! Na real life hero wey we get for our midst. 13-year-old boy wey swim like say na fish for water just save him whole family after dem waka go sea for Quindalup, Western Australia!
The mad story be say, Friday evening, as dem dey paddle and kayak for Geographe Bay, wind come decide say dem go chop belleful wave. Dem paddleboards and kayak come introduce the family to the sea wahala; before you know am, the mama, brother, and sister don dey drift away from land!
Our young champion, Austin Appelbee, wan paddle back to shore. But the kayak wey him dey use come dey take on water like house wey get roof leak. E no fit hold am again, so he decide say na swimming na him go do. And na so this pikin jump inside water wey dey rough, swim 4 kilometres just to find help!
As he dey swim, Paul Bresland, the commander for Naturaliste Volunteer Marine Rescue, talk say the boy swim for two hours with life jacket before him come remove am, saying ‘biko, I no go fit make am with this thing.’ For those two hours, na so he dey swim for his life, my people!
When he finally reach shore around 6pm, our guy no waste time! E run go call 000 like say na movie. “I need helicopters, I need planes, I need boats, my family dey out for sea!” E dey calm, but you fit hear say shock don catch am. Na real determination!
Meanwhile, the rescue team, as dem hear him, come mobilize waka. Helicopters, water police, marine rescue volunteers, all of dem just dey ready to save the day. By 8:30 pm, dem locate the mama, the 12-year-old brother, and the 8-year-old sister wey don dey hang on top paddleboard like say na their new home. Dem dey about 14km offshore o!
Rescue team come pick dem one by one. Thank God say everybody dey wear life jackets, because na that one save dem lives, Inspector James Bradley talk am well well. He commot hat for our boy Austin, because without him swimming like superhero, we for no know how this story for end!
After dem rescue, the family go hospital make dem check dem out. But dem no waste time, dem go visit the marine rescue people after to show appreciation. Even mama wey dey tress say she wan give up, she maintain and keep her children together! Everybody for this story na real hero.
This incident na big reminder say ocean fit change condition like speed of light. Wetin fit be fun today, fit turn wahala tomorrow. So, my people, make we dey careful anytime we dey go near water!
