Dey recently inaugurate one multi-sectoral committee wey go handle One-Health approach wey go strong health surveillance, detection, prevention, and response to public health threats dem.

As dem yarn am, dis commot no be small thing o! Na Yusuf Ganiyu Adebisi, wey be di Project Communication and ICT Officer for Kwara L-PRES, talk am for one stakeholders’ workshop wey dem hold for Ilorin.

Dem workshop na to train di state so dat dem go fit respond better when new diseases waka come or diseases wey don dey come back. Na to dey make sure say all sectors dey work together to tackle di health issues.

Dr. Sanusi Abubakar, wey be National Project Coordinator of L-PRES, send message through Dr. Mustapha Mohammed, wey dey represent am, talk say di workshop na part of Sub-component 1.3 of di project. Dem dey focus on animal health service and One-Health na im be di key topic.

Abubakar talk say dem need to bridge di gap wey dey for Kwara State One-Health framework, to make sure say all di actors fit collaborate well.

He emphasize say gats gather stakeholders meet up wey go help to brain-storm and share knowledge on wetin dey happen for One-Health movement for di country.

For di same gathering, Dr. Winnie Lai-Solarin, wey don serve as director for Animal Husbandry Services at di Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, advise di new committee to dey serious about wetin dem dey do.

She talk say One-Health approach go make am easy for different agencies to work together and respond quickly when public health threats arise.

Mr. Olusoji Oyawoye, wey be di State Project Coordinator of L-PRES, don talk say plenty infective diseases wey dey affect humans dey come from animals or environmental factors, so collaboration dey necessary.

Time don reach to unite human health, animal health, and environmental health sectors, plus any other groups wey get roles to play. Na so dem go fit safeguard public health.

Di committee go get representatives from di state ministries of health, environment, livestock development, water resources, plus di rural water supply and sanitation agency, along with other important bodies.
