Dis one happen for Monday, as dem joint hand gather statement wey dem sign, led by Mobolaji Ogunlende wey be Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, and Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi from Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency.
As wahala don dey rise on how dem dey portray pikin for social media, Lagos State no wan hear say dem go put children for any content wey fit expose dem to gbege or bad influence. Na serious matter! Dem say children suppose dey protect under Nigerian law, and any content wey fit Affect dem dignity, safety or their mind no dey allowed at all.
Dem talk am clear, any person wey dey create, share or even dey chop money from content wey dey sexualise, exploit or endanger pikin go surely face criminal charge. Nigerian law no dey play with this kind wahala, and dem don even bring Sections 25(1) and 26 of Lagos State Child’s Rights Law wey dey make am clear say na big crime to exploit children or put dem for bad conditions.
Even sections 135–139 and 141 from Criminal Law of Lagos State dey talk about sexual offences wey dey involve children. Na so dem fit carry dem go jail! E no end there, as dem also mention Section 23 for Cybercrimes Act wey dey slap penalties on child pornography, plus Section 24 wey dey discuss cyberstalking and harassment for online matter. You wan play with pikin wahala? Think twice!
Dem also remind us say Section 32 for Child’s Rights Act fit give you up to 14 years for prison if you dey sexually abuse or exploit any pikin. Lagos State Government don talk say dem no dey take am easy on child abuse matter, and dem don set plans to dey work with law enforcement make sure sey all dis laws dey enforce. Dem dey ready to also engage all stakeholders wey fit help stop this wahala once and for all.
