No be small matter we dey hear for Osogbo, my people! Chief Magistrate’s Court don give order to arrest United Bank for Africa (UBA) and three of their top oga over wetin dem call illegal operation of local government accounts. E no be joke oh! Dem say UBA allow unauthorized persons dey handle 30 accounts wey belong to local government councils for Osun State.
This gist don start when Osun State Government carry matter waka go court, file Charge No: MOS/601c/2025. Dem carry 31 counts come, each one dey point finger say UBA and their top officials do gbege by opening accounts wey no dey legit. The main gist be say, dem open these accounts for local councils but allow some unknown private individuals to dey manage dem like sey dem no get sense. Wetin be that one na?
According to the court documents, dem talk say since December 9, 2025, the defendants dey commit felony by opening and maintaining these illegal accounts. As the prosecution dey hammer the case, dem talk say gbagam, na person dem dem suppose allow handle those accounts, but dem kuku sidon hand over to unauthorized people. So, my people, na serious wahala we dey talk about here.
Dem also claim sey UBA dey chop money wey no suppose enter their pocket under sections 2 and 3 of the Osun State Local Government Accounts Administration Law, 2025. Na wetin we call ‘say no to corruption’, abeg! But as dis matter dey hot, na only February 10, 2026 dey remain for dem to face trial again. Everybody dey wait to see wetin go happen next.
By the way, those wey dey involved for this matter na UBA, their Group Managing Director, Oliver Alawuba, the Company Secretary and Group Legal Adviser, Billy Odum, and Deputy Managing Director, Chukwuma Nweke. Na serious matter wey we go dey monitor, because this case fit change the way wey banks dey operate for Naija.
As matter dey hot, some people don raise eyebrow, ask wetin dey happen to the rule of law for this gidi gidi case, especially as Magistrate A. A. Adeyeba still dey de issue bench warrant despite sey High Court don give leave for UBA to quash the case early that same day. Dis pattern no fine at all!
Osun ALGON Chairman, Hon. Samuel Abiodun, don talk sey the situation dey bizarre and e shock him as magistrate go ignore court ruling like sey na play. E dey advise everybody make dem calm down as dem dey follow the matter wey get as e be. Abeg, make we dey follow the gist as e dey unfold, because this one na serious matter wey fit carry serious wahala come.
