Abuja Power Project Dey Face Baga Trouble!

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) don raise alarm say dem dey face serious wahala for Abuja power project wey go provide 624 megawatts of electricity if everything go well. Wetin dey happen na say right-of-way matter don disturb dem, and dem don call for Federal Government to come help. Na so Olugbenga Ajiboye, wey be Executive Director for TCN, yarn during wetin dem call inspection tour of Abuja Feeding Scheme Project.

Ajiboye talk say the project don fall behind time because of plenty issues wey no dey gree allow dem pass where dem suppose pass for transmission line corridor. Even though some substations don ready for action, dem still dey face blockage wey dey delay power supply. “E no dey easy at all! We dey move like person wey dey waka with one leg, na so e be. We need to resolve this right-of-way wahala sharp sharp!” Ajiboye talk.

He no fit hide him vex as he talk say some people dey resist dem, especially those wey get power and influence for those areas. “E no good say people wey suppose support us don turn for road like obstacles. We dey beg government make dem intervene, na only if dem help us we go fit carry this project go,” he lament.

Ajiboye don go meet higher authorities to impress on dem how serious di matter be. “I come here to see wetin dey happen personally, so I fit carry di message go meet di important people, make dem know say wetin I see no be small wahala.” Na so e dey, as e confirm say di project dey over 91 percent complete – but dem no fit gree to finalize until dem clear di road.

This wahala bin dey since wey di project start for April 2019, but na so dem dey push di completion date from December 2022 go forward. Anthony Uuajamah, di project consultant, also yan say if this project finish, e go help fix the power wahala wey dey plague Abuja and di surrounding communities. “We get 13 60 MVA transformers wey go deliver about 624 megawatts of power. Na big deal o!”

As current level of power supply no dey meet demand, Abuja dey follow other states wey dey face same issue. Di project dey join other efforts wey di Federal Government don put in place, including di ongoing Abuja Independent Power Project wey go bring 350MW. Na wetin dem dey call teamwork, abi? “We no fit dey generate well if e no dey flow down to consumers. Coordination na key,” na wetin di Nigerian Independent System Operator yarn.
