NYSC and BAT Nigeria Foundation Don Renew Joint Effort for Agribusiness

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation (BATNF) don renew their partnership wey dey aim to empower young Nigerians through agribusiness. Dem sign new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on January 22, 2026, for Abuja, wey dey show say dem serious about making agribusiness beta for our youths.

This partnership no be new thing, as e don start since 2019 under the Farmers for the Future initiative. Dem dey use this initiative to help young graduates turn their agribusiness dreams into reality with funding, mentorship, and skills development. Na so dem go fit run their businesses well and secure food for everybody.

The new agreement wey dey last for three years go fit continue to push the efforts of both organizations to enhance youth-focused agricultural entrepreneurship and economic inclusion. This MoU na gree-for everybody wey believe say agriculture fit be serious business.

As per how this arrangement go take work, selected corps members wey get viable agribusiness ideas go get structured support. Dem go receive grants, technical guidance, and mentorship from agribusiness experts to help dem bring their ideas to life. No be joke, this program go change the way young Nigerians dey view agriculture from mere subsistence to modern, profitable ways wey go fit carry dem waka far.

For 2026, dem go provide up to ₦10 million in grant funding for six outstanding corps members through a competitive selection process. We dem go share the money like this: ₦3 million for the first-place winner, ₦2 million each for two second-place winners, and ₦1 million each for three lucky third-place winners. This one no be small money o!

People wey collect the grant go undergo intensive development training through boot camp, mentorship, and regular project assessment to ensure say dem dey on track. Dem go also get independent partners wey go supervise the grant disbursement and monitoring wey go make everything transparent and accountable.

Oludare Odusanya wey be the General Manager of BATNF talk say this renewed partnership show wetin continuity for youth development programs fit achieve. E say: “This MoU na re-confirmation of partnership wey start for 2019, wey don show say collaboration fit really help youths unlock their potentials for agriculture.”

The NYSC go still dey use their orientation camps and digital platforms to drive awareness and participation. E mean say youth go dey more aware of the opportunities wey dey for agriculture, and how e fit help dem better their lives.

With this renewed commitment, we dey expect say more young Nigerians go begin to see agriculture as the real deal wey fit change dem life and build the economy. Na so we go dey push the country forward with our hands for agriculture!
