Aviation Workers Reject Enugu Airport Concession, Wahala Don Dey Ground

Wetin dey happen for aviation sector as aviation workers don yell say dem no gree for the concession wey Federal Government plan for Enugu airport. E be like say dem don reject am with full chest, wey dem talk say na insensitive matter wey no gree show any sign of transparency, and if dem no change am, wahala go dey!

The unions wey dey inside this matter be the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, National Union of Air Transport Employees, and Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals. Dem don write letter wey dem carry give Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, wey he just sign the concession agreement wey don cause gbege since last week.

Keyamo believe say this whole signing na the end of long process wey don dey wahala for years. He talk say dem don talk to everybody wey suppose dey involved, including aviation unions, but wetin be all these when the workforce dey complain say dem no hear anything about wetin fit happen to their jobs?

The workers no dey sweet with how e dey play, as dem come out clear say dem no sabi anything about the concession, dem dey vex say dem represent the workers but no carry them go where dem dey sign contract. Dem say many important things wey suppose dey inside the contract no dey, and this one dey make dem waka like people wey don lose hope.

For the letter, dem comot fire say, “No agreement wey we don sign with our unions on top this matter. E no make sense to just sign the agreement like dis without our involvement.” Dem go further talk say wey dem do dis one na flagrant show of insensitivity as many workers dey fear wetin go happen to dem if this whole concession carry dem come ground.

Dem don also call on top the Federal Government to sit down with dem well-well and discuss so that workers’ rights fit dey protected, and everybody go dey hapi for the aviation sector. E don dey clear say workers don dey tire for all the gobe wey dey on top their head, as dem no wan enter wahala. Dem talk say, “As e be now, all workers for airport dey on red alert, if una no fit change dis decision, wahala go come.”

This matter don show say dem need real talk for the aviation sector, because at the end of the day, if we no dey take care of workers, na everybody go suffer am. So, government, abeg, make una consider wetin workers dey talk before e go turn to real wahala for everybody!”
