My people, wetin dey happen for Anambra State no be small matter! Governor Soludo don flex hin muscles by closing Onitsha Main Market for one whole week because traders no wan open shop on Mondays due to the ongoing sit-at-home wahala. Dem say the market closure go cost Anambra State how much? N8 billion weekly! No be small change o!
As you fit expect, civil society groups no dey smile with this decision. Dem talk say dem wan more human rights-based approach to solve the problem. The governor don catch dem for inspection and dem no gree open shop as usual. Omo, na so we dey enter one chance!
Soludo yarn say the government no fit just sit down dey watch while some people dey sabotage the economy with their sit-at-home wahala. He call am “economic sabotage.” Na true talk be that, but the way wey e take handle am fit cause more wahala for the traders wey just dey fear. Dem no wan face hoodlums for market again. Who go wan die for business?
Prince Chris Azor wey be the chairman for Anambra Civil Society Network don praise Soludo for some development wey him dey push for Anambra, but he gree say the sit-at-home issue need better plan wey go involve traders, not just closure and threats. He talk say many wey dey stay house no dey defy government, dem dey hide from fear! Na them we suppose protect, no be to dey treat them like offenders!
Dr. Ifeanyi Uzoma, another big man talk say this market closure dey wrong. E recollect say some time back, chairman of Mgbuka Amazu Market wey dey Onitsha don waka enter abductor hands when him dey try open shop on Monday. Na wetin dem dey do to traders wey no fit open shop. Government need to step up security around market before dem expect traders to go back to work on Monday.
Another body, Uchenna Ezeh from Anambra People Voice no gree keep quiet too. Him dey vex sey shutting down shops no go solve anything, and if Soludo really care, him suppose send soldiers or some serious security wey go dey patrol. How dem wan open shop when no security dey? Na so people dey lose their lives for market. We no go allow government play with person life!
Parents dey complain too! Many children no fit go school because of market closure, and some parents dey worry sey security no dey enough for their pikin. Augustine Akor, PTA chairman from Community Secondary School dey reason am, say if market no dey open, transport and everything go dey scattered!
Na serious matter wey dey unfold so. Hope say dem go find better way to handle this sit-at-home wahala make everybody fit go back to work without fear. Na here we go dey watch how e go play out! Make we gather more gist as e dey happen!
