Mpox No Be Public Health Emergency Again for Africa!

As e be like this, Africa don finally comot mpox matter from di Public Health Emergency list! Na Jean Kaseya wey be di big oga for Africa CDC talk am as dem announce say dem don lift di emergency status for di viral infection wey everybody sabi as monkeypox.

Dis news come after WHO talk say since September 2024, dem don no longer dey treat mpox as global emergency again. Dem don do plenty waka since di wahala start for Congo last year, and e don show for di numbers! Kaseya talk say cases don fall by 60% between early and late 2025. Na wetin we like make e happen be dat!

But make we clear am well, dis no mean say mpox don waka come out completely for Africa. Instead, Kaseya yan say dis na di beginning of long-term plan to manage am well. E talk say we still need to dey sharp, get more funding, and come dey innovate if we wan clear dis virus from di area.

For di gist wey dey come from WHO, dem fit talk say 78% of all di mpox cases don land for Africa, with DRC, Guinea, and Madagascar falling hand pass. Dem be di hot spots wey we go need extra focus to make sure we fit handle dis gbege well.

Since 2024, Africa don receive over five million mpox vaccines wey don go around 16 countries, and Kaseya sha no forget to appreciate di effort wey collective work don make happen! Dis vaccine rollout don do plenty good, and deaths from di illness don drop sharply from 2.6% to 0.6%!

And as dis emergency status don close, Kaseya talk say na transition we dey move into now – not dey sleep on top di matter! Di Africa CDC don plan new road to handle mpox better going forward and make sure dem continue di progress wey dem don make so far. If dem come focus for prevention, we fit make sure say mpox no go come back come gist us.

So, my people, as we celebrate say wahala don calm down small, make we still dey vigilant. E no go hard to stay sharp because only we fit secure our health and community. We no wan see any new outbreak, so make we join hand and keep di fight going!
