This one come from the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, wey don drop the bombshell for journalists for Awka. E talk say dis new arrangement go kick in by February 2026. Dem don see say as dem dey pay people no matter wetin, workers dey chop salary even when dem no dey work on Mondays. E no make sense again!
For the past four years, dem don dey complain say sit-at-home dey hampered by insecurity and transportation wahala. But now, Doctor Mefor don hammer am clear, say those reasons don become ‘yesterday news’! So, if you dey reason say you fit stay house on Monday, you better think again o, because that salary wey you wan collect go cut down.
Dr. Mefor wey be the big man for Information matter, talk say the decision no be to punish anybody, but to make sure say Anambra State dey produce something wey go boost our economy. He come dey quick to point say absenteeism go lead to loss of government revenue and GDP wahala. No be joke!
“You fit dey think say, what of if we shift work to Saturday?” Mefor come ask, but him no get time for that kind talk. Him insist say Anambra no fit be the only state wey go dey work Saturdays, because na so o, we go wan start to dey do our own special things for Nigeria!
Wetin plenty people no sabi be say sit-at-home dey cost Anambra plenty money—dem dey talk say e fit reach trillions of naira! So, this pro-rata payment go make everybody, including market leaders, dey come to work on Mondays sharp-sharp, as dem dey plan to boost security for those wey be traders too.
Mefor don also dey talk about how dem wan calculate this pro-rata payment. E go dey use 24 working days of the month to divide salary for all workers. So, as you get am, just remember say no dey stay house on Mondays again!
