As e be today, Friday wey be January 23, we hear say power generation don drop to a shocking zero megawatts! Na so the whole country dey waka in darkness. All the 11 electricity distribution companies wey suppose dey supply power, like Eko, Ibadan, Abuja and others, all of dem dey report zero allocation! Na only Ibadan disco show small sign with 20 MW, but make we no lie, e no fit do much.
This collapse no be new story o. E don dey happen regularly for Nigeria since last year. Just last month, dem reported similar wahala on December 29, wey jam the light for most part of the country. You fit imagine say with all the talk wey go on about improving the power system, na only story we dey see.
Niger Delta Power Holding Company don talk say dem dey try fix the issue by adding 450 MW back to the grid after dem do maintenance for Geregu power plant. But e still no clear when full power go come back. NISO wey dey manage the grid talk say the failure happen around 1 p.m., and as we dey talk, plenty Nigerians don dey vex for social media. The frustration real!
Although some people wey dey Aba go dey jolly small because dem dey run their own private power system different from the national grid. Dem dey use Geometric Power wey dey give dem steady supply. E don turn serious matter for government as dem dey feel pressure to fix this wahala fast.
Power generation for Nigeria na serious gbege matter! Even when dem dey boast say power generation don reach 6000 MW, sharp- sharp light go just jam as demand dey rise. For 2025 alone, grid don collapse nine times and e dey affect businesses, hospitals and everyday life for we Nigerians wey dey suffer regular blackout, even when light dey dey available.
Make I jor remind una, na so dem dey manage the electricity system, but transmission na still under government control. Critics dey talk say na here e dey pain pass as dem no dey invest well for maintenance and na why grid dey collapse every time. E don reach time to find solution. Naija need am!
As light dey waka like this, Nigerians go continue to dey struggle to find alternatives like diesel generators, wey dey cost plenty money and dey add to pollution. The way we go fit solve this wahala fit determine our future. Na so e be!
