Dis matter don hotly discussed during one meeting wey happen for Abuja, as Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, and Edo Governor, Monday Okpebholo, converge sit down yan about wetin dem fit do. Dem don agree say by mid-year, make we begin see action for di airport, plus dem dey plan to create indigenous airline for di state. Na wetin dem talk wey Tunde Moshood, wey be Keyamo’s media aide, release to we journalists.

Governor Okpebholo talk say dis new airline na major part of him administration strategy to revive di economy. He con talk say aviation really dey important for attracting investment, boost tourism, and create jobs for di state. Na true talk! E don even start dey discuss with investors from South Africa, wey don show interest to bring aircraft wey go help them kick off operations.

“If I fit have my way, I wan make dis airline take off tomorrow sef! Edo State need strong aviation presence to boost our economy and make Benin correct commercial hub again,” Okpebholo yarn.

Keyamo no gree relax for di matter too. E talk say di plan wey dem dey pursue na timely step wey go help go forward for aviation industry. E remind us say Benin Airport don shine well well before for di times of Okada Air, when dem dey use di airport as major junction for di Midwest region.

“We no go allow dis airport to lose him shine again. Dis kind interest wey we dey see go show say Benin dey ready to take back him glory,” e add.

To make sure say everything dey go smooth, di minister don set up one technical committee wey go help coordinate between di Federal Government and Edo State. Dem don ask di governor to find person wey go dey liaise directly with di Director of Air Transport Management, so that dem fit follow di proper rule and make sure sey everytin dey ready.

“Dis committee go dey report to both of us every week. If dem fit work together well, Benin Airport go dey fully operational between di first and second quarter of dis year,” Keyamo talk. He add say dis engagement na part of di Federal Government’s plan to strengthen regional air connectivity and support indigenous airline operations. Dis one dey under di Renewed Hope Agenda from President Bola Tinubu.
