As e be now, dem don approve N58.18 trillion for this year wey dem no fit respect the Fiscal Responsibility Act, wey suppose done by September. Instead, they don throw in N3.5 trillion for new projects wey no dey bring benefit for we ordinary Nigerians, talkless of the ones wey don gree chop salary since last year.
Abeg, make we reason am. Out of all the new projects, most na for elite enjoyment—no be for we wey dey hustle day by day. Na so the budget dey carry frivolous items like N1.7 trillion for contractors and N300 billion for development finance, while people dey suffer hunger.
An analysis wey this paper carry come out show say more than 400 new projects dey across 82 MDAs—we wan hear say dem dey spend N844.49 billion just like that? This na serious wahala. Dem go dey talk about security and economy, but dem dey focus on wasteful spending instead of fixing the issues wey dey affect we daily.
Person fit ask: How na N2.46 billion to buy stationery go make sense when paper for Nigeria na scarce commodity? Dem dey chop our money for office as people dey suffer outside. Even N25.29 billion dey for accommodation of government officials—who dem wan deceive again? Our money dey go for wahala while dem dey upgrade their comfort like say na luxury dem dey run.
Make we talk about the State House and EFCC, dem don budget N16.78 billion for “miscellaneous”—wetin be that one? People dey fight left and right for food, while dem dey warm their seat for government. E no fit continue like this, or else we go dey hear more stories wey no go sweet.
Wetin be this kind budgeting wey no dey put ordinary citizen for mind? This one wey we dey talk no be something wey Naija fit carry face. Dem don create new MDAs and still dey call for more budget wey fit just vanish without anybody seeing am, like magic!
Nigerians no suppose turn to suffer head while dem dey enjoy for the top. If dis budget no change, e no go take long before dem go push us further down the pit. What we dey ask for na proper planning, accountability, and for dem to do better for who dem dey represent.
This Naija budget e need serious shaking before e fit work for we the people. If dem no return to the drawing board to cut the sweet side for big men, dem go dey run round in circles while we dey waka one place. Na wetin people dey observe now. Make sure say dollar no go become our normal because dem dey swallow our resources in one gulp.
