E be say INEC don come carry new plan wey go open 207 new centres for Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) registration wey go help increase voter participation. Na Alhaji Mohammed Sadiq, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Plateau, na him drop this bombshell during one meeting wey hold for Jos, the state capital.
As dem don gear up for the second phase of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) wey don start since January 5, 2026, dem go still run this gangan registration till April 17, 2026. Sadiq don talk say the new centres go open for business from February 2, 2026, and e go last for fifty days. So, you fit expect plenty people go waka come register!
Sadiq don use hand point out some wahala wey don happen during the first phase – like incomplete registrations and some PVCs wey people still dey collect. Na wetin make am urge everybody wey never collect their PVCs make dem try do am before e go late. He also warn say, no be play play matter, anybody wey try register multiple times fit see dem name vanish from the register completely. Na serious warning be that!
Call all your friends wey dey 18 years and above wey never register, this registration session na for una! Even if you don register before but you wan update your info or replace your lost PVC, this na your chance. Sadiq talk say registration hours go dey 9 am to 3 pm every weekday.
Dem don record plenty registrations already as from January 5 to 16, e be say dem don get 1,720 new registrations, 948 transfers, 754 updates, and 468 replacements. E be like say Plateau people dey ready to collect their PVC go vote. Sadiq dey stress the importance of this voter registration exercise, say na im dey hold democracy together, and make everybody participate so we fit do democracy well!
The police commissioner for the state, Emmanuel Adesina, self don join for this gist as him dey commend INEC for the way dem dey involve stakeholders. E talk say na politicians dey cause most of the wahala during elections, if dem fit get their acts together, e go make work easier for security agents. So, all this wahala wey dem dey see fit be prevent if everybody gree collaborate well, especially with security agents.
So, my people, abeg, mark your calendar, gather your documents, and prepare to go register when the centres open. No let the opportunities pass you by!
